The Verdigris Family — DM Notes

⚠ DM-ONLY — CAMPAIGN SPOILERS. Players should not read it.

Status: In development — jenred_'s one-shot, with Dustin's blessing  |  "Mirrors that lie, and the people who buy them."

The antagonist layer beneath the Verdigris's respectable surface. The public family page shows only the honest mirror-crafters; everything below is the part they'd never admit to. Much of this is still being shaped, so treat it as a working draft rather than locked canon.

The Undertow Supply

The Verdigris supply the specialty mirrors used in The Undertow's memory-trading rituals — glass in which a memory can be watched being extracted, reflected in the surface, before it's taken. The Undertow pays extremely well for them.

The Memory Pattern

A recent, quiet pattern: people who received Verdigris "custom reflection mirrors" later developed memory problems — gaps in recollection, decisions they couldn't explain.

Isidore's Ambition

Isidore wanted to supply the Undertow with mirrors that show the owner what they want to see rather than what is — deceptive glass, a step beyond the family's true-mirror reputation. It's part of his broader push to expand the operation.

Thalia's Experiments

Thalia has begun experimenting with mirrors that show what was — glimpses of past reflections. Cosimo is terrified she'll attract the wrong kind of attention. Per jenred_, both Thalia and Cosimo are intended to function as antagonists in the one-shot (each motivated by their own goals, with consequences following naturally — Dustin's preferred way of writing them).

Cosimo's Leverage

Cosimo uses Noname's fiancé to further his own ends, feeding him information gleaned from the mirrors to remove rivals and personal enemies. Nothing is stated outright as illegal — per Dustin, corruption and illegality are simply the unspoken norm in Venturia, and everyone behaves as though they aren't.
