The Leaked

Supernatural entities and strange phenomena manifesting in Venturia with increasing frequency, escalating from unsettling atmosphere to mimicking creatures to reality distortions that warp whole neighborhoods.

Nature — Pale Carnival Spillage

The Leaked are not random glitches. They are the contents of the Pale Carnival spilling through cracks in the prison. As the Archfey's imprisonment weakens, the walls between the fractured Carnival and the material plane thin, and whatever is on the other side seeps through without context or coherence. They are not Silas's doing and not loyal to Marcello — if anything, the Maskless are hostile to him, because he is the reason their home broke.

Early Phase — Atmosphere

Animals that feel wrong — wearing their own faces awkwardly, as if they briefly passed through somewhere else and came back slightly altered. Shadow-wisps trailing through alleys with no body attached. Unsettling, but not yet dangerous.

Middle Phase — The Maskless

Fey who lost their identity in the fractured Carnival, stumbling through tears in reality. They try to wear the identities of people they encounter — mimicking speech, posture, mannerisms — making encounters deeply unsettling before any combat begins. Not evil; just desperately hungry for identity. Witnesses report the creature "looked like it was practicing being me."

Late Phase — Architectural Overlap

The actual architecture of the Pale Carnival briefly overlapping with Venturia. A district might wake to canals running the wrong direction, every mirror in a neighborhood showing wrong seasonal colors, music playing from no source and following specific people. To players who've built up knowledge of the Pale Carnival, these read as legible: the prison wall is nearly gone.

Lotan's Unique Window

Lotan's patron is imprisoned in the Pale Carnival. The Keeper may send warnings or pleas specifically when a Leaked entity is nearby — because to the Keeper, each one is a piece of his home falling apart.
