The Keeper of Faces

The Keeper of Faces is the imprisoned Archfey at the center of the Vallombrosa crisis. Its domain is identity as chosen and performed: masks, faces, reputation, reflection, glamour, and the dangerous power of becoming what one claims to be.

Domain

The Keeper's bargains touch appearance, reputation, social standing, names, recognition, and the face a person chooses to show the world. Under the Keeper, the Reverie Solenne treated identity as an ongoing creative act, not a fixed inheritance.

Autumn was sacred because autumn wears its dying beautifully.

Imprisonment

Lorenzo di Errante manipulated an adventuring party into binding the Keeper at the moment it came to collect a legitimate debt. Lorenzo drained power from the trapped Archfey, and Tartuzi was pulled into the completed mechanism as the lock.

That imprisonment collapsed the Keeper's court into the Pale Carnival and left Vallombrosa as the material symptom of the prison.

Lotan's Pact

The Keeper hijacked Lotan's warlock pact with a kraken, offering weaker immediate power but a path toward something greater if Lotan helps free it. Lotan is not a casual agent to the Keeper; he may be the only viable plan that remains.

Current Pressure

The prison is failing because multiple curves have met: the Keeper's reserves are exhausted, the Pale Carnival can no longer sustain it properly, the fanes have accumulated structural wear, and Marcello's return to the binding site has accelerated the draw.
