Eldritch Invocations (Levels 1+) - MAJOR OVERHAUL

2014:

• Level 2: 2 invocations
• Maximum: 8 invocations at level 18
• Pact Boons separate feature at level 3
• One Pact Boon only
• Agonizing/Repelling/Eldritch Spear only worked on Eldritch Blast
• Many invocations required spell slots

2024:

• Level 1: 1 invocation
• Maximum: 10 invocations at level 18
• Pact Boons are now invocations
• Can have multiple Pact Boons
• Agonizing/Repelling/Eldritch Spear work on any damage-dealing Warlock cantrip
• Most invocations don't require spell slots

Pact Magic (Level 1)

• Spell slot progression identical to 2014
• Can swap one cantrip when gaining Warlock level

Spell List Changes:

• Added: Thunderclap, Toll the Dead, Bane, Detect Magic, Speak with Animals, Tasha's Hideous Laughter, Mind Spike, Charm Monster, Synaptic Static
• Removed: Shatter, Conjure Fey, Flesh to Stone, Mass Suggestion

Magical Cunning (Level 2) - NEW

Once per long rest: Spend 1 minute ritual to regain expended Pact Magic slots = half maximum (rounded up)

• Example at level 5: Regain 1 slot (half of 2)
• Example at level 11+: Regain 2 slots (half of 3-4)

Subclass Timing

• 2014: Level 1
• 2024: Level 3

Contact Patron (Level 9) - NEW

• Learn Contact Other Plane (always prepared)
• Once per long rest: Cast without slot and automatically succeed on INT save

Mystic Arcanum (Level 11+)

• 2024 adds: Can replace one Mystic Arcanum when gaining Warlock level

Eldritch Master (Level 20)

• 2014: 10 minutes to regain all slots (once per long rest)
• 2024: When using Magical Cunning, regain ALL slots instead of half (1 minute, once per long rest)

Epic Boon (Level 19) - NEW

Choose one Epic Boon feat

Recommended:

• Boon of Fate: +1 CHA (max 30); roll 2d4 and add/subtract from d20 test within 60 ft (once per short rest or when rolling initiative)

Patron Spell Changes - MASSIVE

2014: Patron spells added to Warlock spell list; must choose to learn them

2024: Patron spells ALWAYS PREPARED and don't count against spells known

Result: +10 effective spells known (67% increase)

Pact Boon Changes (Now Invocations)

Pact of the Blade - MASSIVELY BUFFED

2014:

• Level 3 feature
• Create pact weapon as action
• Use STR or DEX for attacks
• Needed Hexblade for CHA attacks

2024:

• Eldritch Invocation (can take at level 1)
• Create pact weapon as bonus action
• Use CHA for attack and damage (built-in)
• Choose damage type: Necrotic, Psychic, Radiant, or normal
• Weapon counts as magical

Thirsting Blade (Level 5):

• Extra Attack with pact weapon
• Level 12: TWO extra attacks (3 attacks total)

Other Invocations:

• Eldritch Smite (5): 1d8 Force per spell level + knock Prone
• Lifedrinker (9): +CHA necrotic damage on every hit
• Devouring Blade (9): +1d6 damage once per turn; spend Hit Die to heal

Pact of the Chain

2024 changes:

• Can take at level 1 (was level 3)
• Cast Find Familiar at-will (not just ritual)
• New familiar options: Skeleton, Slaad Tadpole, Sphinx of Wonder, Venomous Snake

Pact of the Tome

2024 changes:

• Can take at level 1 (was level 3)
• Built-in ritual spells: Learn 2 first-level ritual spells (no separate invocation needed)
• Book can be spellcasting focus
• Can replace cantrips/rituals when gaining level

Archfey Patron - COMPLETE REDESIGN

Expanded Spell List (Always Prepared):

• 1st: Misty Step (NEW), Faerie Fire, Sleep
• 2nd-5th: Various (10 total spells)

Steps of the Fey (Level 3) - NEW: When casting Misty Step, choose:

• Refreshing Step: You or ally within 10 ft gains temp HP = 1d10 + Warlock level
• Taunting Step: Creatures within 5 ft of arrival make WIS save or have disadvantage on attacks vs others

Uses: Prof bonus per long rest OR expend Pact Magic slot

Misty Escape (Level 6):

• 2014: Once per short/long rest; reaction when damaged to turn invisible and teleport 60 ft
• 2024: Reaction when damaged; teleport 60 ft + invisible + creatures within 5 ft of departure/arrival take 2d10 Psychic (WIS save half); uses equal to Misty Step casts

Beguiling Defenses (Level 10):

• 2014: Immune to Charmed; reflect charm attacks
• 2024: Immune to Charmed; reaction to halve damage when hit; attacker takes psychic = half damage you took

Bewitching Magic (Level 14) - NEW:

• Cast Enchantment/Illusion spells invisibly
• Advantage on CON saves for Enchantment/Illusion concentration

Fiend Patron

Dark One's Blessing (Level 3):

• 2014: Gain temp HP when YOU reduce creature to 0 HP
• 2024: Gain temp HP when ANY hostile within 10 ft drops to 0 HP (you or ally kills it)

Hurl Through Hell (Level 14):

• 2014: Once per long rest; hit with attack → target disappears until end of next turn; returns for 10d10 psychic (if not fiend)
• 2024: Expend Pact Magic slot; hit → target makes CHA save; fail = disappears until end of next turn; returns for 5d10 Fire; success = half damage, doesn't disappear; renewable with spell slots

Great Old One Patron - COMPLETE REDESIGN

Expanded Spell List (Always Prepared): Includes Summon Aberration at 4th level

Awakened Mind (Level 3):

• 2014: Telepathy 30 ft, no language needed, always on
• 2024: Bonus action to form telepathic bond; 30 ft range; 10 minutes duration; must share language; can bond with Prof bonus creatures

Psychic Spells (Level 3) - NEW:

• Change any Warlock spell damage to Psychic
• Cast Enchantment/Illusion spells without verbal or somatic components

Clairvoyant Combatant (Level 6) - NEW: When forming telepathic bond: Target makes WIS save; fail = disadvantage on attacks vs you, you have advantage vs them (once per short/long rest OR expend 2nd+ level slot)

Eldritch Hex (Level 10) - NEW:

• Always have Hex prepared
• When casting Hex, choose: change one spell damage type to Necrotic OR target has disadvantage on saves against your spells

Thought Shield (Level 10): Unchanged: Resist Psychic damage

Celestial Patron (From Xanathar's)

Expanded Spell List (Always Prepared):

• 1st: Aid (NEW), Cure Wounds
• 5th: Summon Celestial (replaces Flame Strike), Greater Restoration

Healing Light (Level 3):

• 2024 adds: Can only restore HP once per turn (prevents abuse)

Celestial Resilience (Level 10):

• 2024 adds: Also triggers on Magical Cunning (mid-adventure temp HP)

Searing Vengeance (Level 14):

• 2014: When YOU make death save; once per long rest
• 2024: When you OR ALLY makes death save (reaction); adds Blinded to enemies; renewable with 4th+ level slot
